Review Of Guardian Dental Insurance

Advantages

Selecting a Guardian dental plan has the following advantages

  • There are no waiting periods for preventive care: Every plan, except for the Starter plan, has no waiting period for preventative treatment or basic procedures like minor extractions and fillings. (State-specific variations may exist.)

  • Different kinds of insurance are available: Plans for life, disability, eyesight, accident, critical sickness, and hospital indemnity are also available to policyholders

  • Primary options for servicers coverages: Up to 50% of basic care, implants and dentures, and orthodontics are covered under higher-premium insurance.

  • Options for teeth-whitening coverage: The Diamond plan covers 50% of teeth-whitening operations.

Disadvantages

The following are a few restrictions on Guardian dental plans:

  • Postponed Coverage: If policyholders pay via credit card or Automated Clearing House (ACH), coverage starts on the first day of the subsequent month after enrollment.

  • Reduced Maximum payouts: The Starter plan only pays out a maximum of $500 in the first year and $1,000 by the third, whilst the highest-premium plan, Diamond, has an annual maximum payout of just $1,500.

  • Starter policyholders do not have major care coverage: Major care services including crowns, intricate extractions, oral surgery, implants, dentures, and orthodontics are not covered by the lowest-premium plan.

Guardian Dental Insurance Plans Types and Coverage

The coverage offered by Guardian's four dental insurance plans will be discussed, with premiums starting at $15 per month and varying according to the coverage offered. Coverage may differ by state.

1. Guardian Diamond

The most coverage is available for the highest monthly payment with Guardian's Diamond plan. All dental services may be fully or partially covered for policyholders.

There are no waiting periods for either preventative treatment, which is fully covered, or basic care, such as tooth fillings, which is 80% covered. Furthermore, Diamond policyholders receive 50% coverage for important services including crowns or complex extractions, implants, dentures, orthodontia, and teeth whitening.

There are some exclusions, such as dental implants, orthodontics, and teeth whitening, which have lifetime or yearly payouts of $500 to $1,000, although the maximum payout is $1,500 per year. Guardian has a $50 deductible for out-of-network care and all other dental services, while there is no deductible for in-network preventative care. There is an additional $50 deductible for teeth whitening.

2. Guardian Achiever

Guardian’s Achiever plan offers 100% coverage for preventative care. Basic care is 70% covered, and both basic and preventative care require no waiting period. Teeth whitening is not covered, however major care, implants, dentures, and orthodontics are, up to 50%, with a 12-month waiting time.

Up to their third year, policyholders' maximum benefits rise with each additional year. For the first year, Guardian will pay out a maximum of $1,000; for the second, $1,250; and the third, $1,500. However, the lifetime maximum for dental implants and orthodontics is $1,000 (with an annual maximum of $500 for orthodontics).

Guardian has a $50 deductible for out-of-network care and all other dental services, while there is no deductible for in-network preventative care.

3. Guardian Core

Preventative, basic, and some major care services are included in Guardian's Core plan. There are no waiting periods and 80% and 50% coverage, respectively, for preventative and basic care services. The Core plan does not cover orthodontics or tooth whitening, but it does cover major treatment, implants, and dentures to 50% of the cost, with a 12-month waiting period.

Dental implants have a separate lifetime maximum of $700, however, maximum benefits rise with each year policyholders remain, beginning at $500 in year one and rising to $1,000 by year three. While out-of-network care and all other dental procedures have a $50 deductible, in-network preventative care has no cost
