Post Operative Instructions For Temporary Bridges

Post Operative Instructions For Temporary Bridges

Post Operative Instructions For Temporary Bridges are key to keeping your smile safe and comfortable during healing. At HQ Temple Dentist, we guide you every step of the way—call us at (254) 773-1672 for support anytime.

During this phase, you will receive a temporary bridge to protect your teeth and gums and allow you to function normally until your permanent bridges are ready. This phase typically lasts 1 to 2 months.

However, care is necessary during this period. Taking proper care during this phase can help prevent damage to the temporary bridge, avoid discomfort, and ensure your permanent bridge fits properly.

Post Operative Instructions For Temporary Bridges

  • ● Your permanent bridges are as strong as temporary ones, so it is recommended to switch to a soft diet in this phase. The dentist can also direct the diet, but the easy options are fruits like a banana, sandwiches, or anything else. Avoid food that puts pressure on the surgical site.

  • ● It is good to keep the maintenance of your temporary bridges. You can use the regular brush as you did previously, but be cautious near the surgical site to avoid applying excessive pressure. Avoid flossing as it can easily loosen or pull off the bridge. Also, you can use any mouthwash as you did previously.

  • ● If you got into any position where your bridges fall during the weekend, don't panic. Have a look if it's still in one place; if it is, then just put some vaseline inside it and push it back to its usual place. Furthermore, if it's broken, leave it in this way, and it is okay to stay uncovered, as they are already in a protective layer. It could feel sensitive but not problematic. In both scenarios, visit us after the weekend, and we will have a look at it.

  • ● We will suggest painkillers like Tylenol or Advil to avoid pain or discomfort. But you will still feel some pain or discomfort. But all the symptoms should start subsiding in 2 days.
